Analizy Online together with Rzeczpospolita daily have prepared and published a ranking of investment fund companies in Poland and investment funds divided into specific classes. Legg Mason Equity Open- end Investment Fund and Legg Mason Senior Specialized Open-end Investment Fund once again were the best in terms of investment effectiveness and won the first places within their groups.
‘The last five years have been marked both by crises and bull market tendencies. Stock portfolio managers have had to face not only the enormous volatility of prices, but also huge in-flows and out-flows of money from investment funds. The herd behaviour of clients has not make their work easier.(…) The average loss of funds for the last five years amounts to 24%. Only one achieved a small profit, while the others lost,’ say the journalists.
LM Equity OEIF was the one which managed to make profit within the last 5 years (2.2%). The author of the article stressed also the fact that for years our fund has been in the lead in the ranking when it comes to long-term rates of return. ‘The clients appreciate good results. The assets under management of the fund are more or less at the same level as at the end of 2006,’ said the author. Let us remind the readers that LM Equity OEIF was the second in 2010 and the first in 2009.
Legg Mason Senior Specialized Open-end Investment Fund number one among stable growth funds
LM Senior SOEIF has taken the first position in the ranking of stable growth funds for the first time. Last year the fund finished also in the lead taking the third place.
The management effectiveness ratio was the key measure applied to asses the performance of investment funds. This information ratio shows the relation between so called additional rate of return of an investment fund to the risk taken by managers and the rotation among them. Similarly to the previous rankings only the last 5 years were analyzed (30.09.2006 - 30.09.2011).
Legg Mason TFI S.A. (Legg Mason Investment Fund Company) received also the maximum mark (15 pts.) for following an open information policy and providing the clients with easy access to information. This criterion applies to the access to information about fees, investment managers and benchmarks et.al.
